Change your Day

Life can be very tiring sometimes and it takes a lot of strength to get up and go daily when all you want to do is retreat. Events happen and we tend to sometimes get overwhelmed with our daily tasks and seem to not have the energy to keep going. Yet we all keep going regardless because there are expectations of us that we must act. We may want to retreat and hide until we feel better however, we can’t. As we take action, we have to choose how our day will be. It can be either positive or negative.

Things, people, work and responsibilities will always pull on your energy. Then you need to replenish yourself so that you can think through how to proceed. With your quiet thoughts, you have the ability to analyze what happened, and how best to not repeat the same cycle. We always have choices and that is the beauty of a new day. We get a fresh new canvas to paint, we get the choice of the colors in which to paint. You may feel like you don’t have a choice in the picture you get to paint but that is not necessarily true either. If you don’t like the canvas due to size or shape, you can always buy another one, right? Well same as in your life, if there is something that you really don’t like and it is draining your energy, you get to choose whether you continue with it or not.

I’ve had quite a round of unexpected events occur in my life that sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Wow what an experience that was. I could have easily sat in bed with two rolls of toilet paper and binge on potato chips, pizza and don’t forget the ice cream. However, I chose not to linger in that state for too long. Self-pity parties are not good for mental health. Nor does it accomplish anything other than releasing all negativity from your body. Next is to make a conscious decision to change the way you perceive the events and try to find a way in which you can change how your think. When we change how we think, we have the ability to see the events in a different light. Again, the choice is up to you as to how you are going to perceive the experiences as negative or an opportunity to learn and grow. Every new day that you wake up to is an opportunity to make a change. If you never change, you can never grow and become a better version of yourself.

People and events come into your life for you to learn something from. If you keep the blinders on you are bound to repeat the same experiences multiple times. The cycle will continue until you learn what it is that you needed to learn. Change is doing something that you would not be comfortable with to rise above your own limitations. Once you do that it changes how you proceed in life. You may have more optimism that allows for you to get up in the morning believing that today will be a good day.
