Illusions

We all live in a world full of self-illusions that can either be detrimental to your well-being or serve in some way to benefit yourself. Our everyday thoughts and insecurities feed our illusions in a positive or negative direction. How we process information is all determined by years of conditioning that has cumulated throughout your lifetime.

One of those illusions is the belief that we can control the outcomes and direction of our lives. We definitely can set in motion series of events or actions that align with the path that you would like to move forward in. Yet I have discovered that the universe/God or whatever religious denomination you ascribe to will determine what is the right course of action and it may not be the one you had intended.

Once you have been catapulted in another direction than you had anticipated, it is time to look back at the experience and learn the lesson from it. Every experience is meant to help you grow and develop into a more prosperous human being. For those who do not reflect on past experiences miss out on an opportunity to learn and grow stronger from the lessons. It gives you the opportunity to change something within yourself that doesn’t work so that you can have better luck next time.

Illusions come into play if you consistently repeat the same mistakes and hope that there will be a different outcome. Accept things as they are and learn to either adapt to circumstances as they are or change your behavior and beliefs to enact a positive change that will provide you with a greater experience.

To dream is to give life to your illusions. We all dream of a better life, car, house, or career. These can all come to fruition however it may not always be in the form that you believe it to be. I like to think of illusions as our blinders in life that is a method of self-protection. It allows us to perceive the world as we would like it to be for ourselves.

I know for me I like to believe that everyone is good until they prove otherwise. Sometimes I have a sense that I am being too lenient and then I must quickly adjust and choose as to how to proceed. My illusion is the belief that people are inherently good, yet I can also be a realist and know that we all have traits that will not resonate with others. Some traits that may seem toxic to some may not be acknowledged that way with others. Perception is one person’s illusion.
