There are many ways to look at life, the one you choose is so important on how you will feel. If you put yourself first and give yourself the gift of a morning smile and gratitude, your day will give you so much more than what you would expect.
We all have responsibilities, timelines and deadlines that must be achieved. These are normal throughout your life and the amount of stress it will cause you in your daily life is the amount of importance you place on the identity you put on it to achieve self-validation. If you focus on completion of tasks as actualization of self and accomplishments to feel like you accomplished your tasks for the day, then you will always be lacking no matter how you think that you are successful.
I have a fear of falling which is quite jarring. I can climb up to high places however over time I developed this irrational fear that I can fall even though I am very much safe either in a building or on a balcony.
To overcome this fear, I decided to test the age old quote “mind over matter” therefore my mind does not matter, just do it. So, I booked a hang-gliding session to test my resolve. I figure if I can overcome this irrational fear, I would then become unstoppable and I would be able to take the next step in my life rather than living in the comfort of my irrational fears. What is the worst that can happen? Oh, that I die, but to live through the experience I think would be liberating, no? I will have to write another blog to let you know the true outcome of that experience
Living in comfort because the unknown is uncomfortable is just plain boring and never truly enjoying all that life has to offer. There is more to life than waking up in the morning going through your rituals, going to work and then back home to fill your evenings with nothingness to kill time to start all over again the following day. How about finding something to do that speaks to your soul. Try to remember when you were a child and remember the things that you enjoyed the most. Was it reading a book, singing, dancing, running on the grass bare feet? What did that feel like to you? Why can’t you bring that back into your life and with it will bring you some level of joy of being alive.
Challenge yourself to start one thing that used to bring you joy, whether that was sitting in a bubble bath, dressing up and pretending that you have somewhere important to go and walk to the closest store since you put all the effort to look good. You have the ability to put a smile on your own face, no one else can do this better than you can because you are the only one that truly knows yourself. Allow yourself to fall in love with who you are and what you believe makes you happy. You are your harshest critic, no one will judge you and if they do so what, you just did something you wanted to!
