Choices are your daily paradox as everything is dependent on how you choose to start your day. Sometimes changes in routine can be good and other times some things are not meant to deviate from what works. However, you will never know that if you do not challenge yourself to go outside the norm.
So I decided that I was going to choose to see what it would be like if I deviated from a self-imposed timeline to complete a task. The only way to truly see how important or unimportant it is to me was to try to delay the timeline to see how I would feel about that experience. As a result, I would be able to gauge if it was important for me to maintain the self-imposed timeline.
I opted to not blog a story on my usual day to see how I would feel about not completing something that I alone in its non-completion it would affect. So I let the date go by, I felt a little anxious but nothing I couldn’t handle. Gradually I let the whole week go by to really ascertain how I felt about my decision.
What I realized in not submitting my blog is that it did not have a detrimental effect on my everyday life. It did leave me feeling like I had not accomplished what I set out to do. Essentially it was a test as to its importance for me. What I came to realize is that I liked having the self-imposed timeline. It gave me a goal and a sense of accomplishment in its completion within the timeline that I set.
What I discovered is that sometimes you must allow things to happen even if it feels uncomfortable in order to know if it is truly something you should carry on doing. No decision that you make with regards to self-imposed goals or beliefs should be so inflexible that you feel constrained by your choices. If it feels right, then carry on doing what is right then.
Every once in a while, we have to challenge ourselves to get out of our comfort zones and test the validity of our choices.
